Wexler. Neutra. Lautner. Cody. These architects re-imagined the house fifty years ago, blending form and function with the desert lifestyle. What was revolutionary in mid-century modern architecture is now ubiquitous. Fast-forward to 2006 where ALTA is leading the revolution in contemporary desert home design.

“From the start, we envisioned ALTA as the destination for contemporary architectural enthusiasts,” said Frank Eder, General Manager of the Development Team. “The goal was to bring the design excellence of custom architecture to a master planned community on a grand scale.

To deliver a product that was commensurate with our goals, the homes had to be designed with built-in flexibility to accommodate the diverse needs of future residents, and at the same time, be feasible to construct from a cost and construction timeline standpoint. It required a team effort and a solid, local architectural firm that focused strictly on that specific architectural genre – that’s how we arrived with Patel Architecture and the designs thus far are nothing short of stunning.”

ALTA is Palm Spring’s first real estate development where architectural design was outsourced to a prominent and internationally recognized custom home architectural firm. “It’s atypical for a residential real estate developer to contract the services of a firm like Patel Architecture,” explains Eder.

“Our firm is flattered,” says Patel. “ALTA is more to us than creating unique floor plans. The topography of the site and the rugged surrounding mountain views requires a sincere effort to not only create a product that is in harmony with the indigenous terrain, but also one that relates well to the individual lot.”
